ReadingStudents should read for a halfhour each day and record what they read. There are multiple ways to record what they read: using the classroom website's Reading Log, Biblionasium, or a Reading Log notebook. This homework is due daily. Students will be expected to reference their reading logs or Biblionasium during reading conferences.

Mathematics10 minutes of math practice are required each night. Students should complete a few math practice problems and one word problem each night. Math will be given on Mondays and due on Fridays. Students who struggle with math concepts can use YouTube's Duane Habecker's videos. He is a teacher who has published YouTube homework lessons for each lesson. To search for these lessons, visit the YouTube website and type in grade 5 along with the module number and lesson number which is always listed on the homework sheet. This will help the student if they do not remember how to complete the lesson.

Science and Social StudiesScience and Social Studies study packets will be given toward the end of each unit and the quiz will follow the next week. There will be times that supporting activities will go home to be completed.

Language ArtsStudents will complete an average of 5 minutes of activities for spelling or vocabulary. Students will be placed in a spelling or vocabulary group based on reading levels and scores on spelling quizzes. Students will take a pretest on Monday to determine what words they will study that week. Homework will be activities students choose from a TicTacToe grid. Students will be required to complete three connected activities. This is due on Friday.
